Virus & Spyware Removal

Even with the best protection available there is always the possibility of getting an infection if you are connected to the internet. Most computer repair companies and independent technicians will reinstall your operating system and call it a fix. We feel that a true fix is removing the infection without having to reinstall your operating system. That way your documents, settings, and programs are still there and you will not be able to tell that there was ever a problem to begin with.

What are Viruses & Spyware?

A virus is defined as "a computer program that is usually hidden within another seemingly innocuous program and that produces copies of itself and inserts them into other programs and usually performs a malicious action (such as destroying data)

How did I get infected with the virus or spyware?

It is fairly easy to get infected with a virus or spyware. Just opening an email attachment or visiting a compromised website can open your computer to viruses and spyware. You can even be infected by programs and files that you download.

How do I keep from getting infected?

The first step to protect yourself is to always use an antivirus program and keep those programs up to date. At Primary Technology Solutions we recommend and sell Kaspersky Antivirus software and Emsisoft Antimalware because of their proven track records and minimal impact on system resources. The second step to protecting yourself is to never disable your antivirus protection. The third step is to download programs and files from known sources as opposed to torrents or other peer-to-peer file sharing services. Never run an executable that is sent to you via email if the source is not known. Remember Fed-Ex, UPS, USPS, DHL, or money transfer services like Western Union will never send you a zip file via email. Your antivirus should pick up most infections coming from websites, but you should always use caution.

With our System Monitoring and Protection Packages we can monitor the health of your PC including your antivirus health.
